"1/ The Scipii move forward. Julii Albucius's and Brutii Sanctus's ones have reduced Scipii's (three 1st Leg. Coh.) first line of
only 13 % :

4/ Instead of staying under fire, Albucius (top of the image)
sends his three cohorts to the contact, while Marcel is rushing
ahead (bottom), attacking the enemy's right wing, with seven cohorts against three :

5/
Albucius has called back what remains of his three cohorts whereas Midas moves his cavalry forward (top, right). Marcel focuses his attack on the right with four cohorts, backed by four others,
leaving at the center six units watching on Sanctus's eight ones :

7/ Marcel launches his cavalry in reply, and shifts his right wing towards the corner itself, bringing a precious support to his left wing :

9/ While Marcel is breaking through Sanctus's corner, Albucius has sent a renewed first line to contact.

10/ Sanctus decides first not to move his left wing, probably to watch a possible Midas's outflanking.
:

11/ Sanctus finally withdraws one cohort (middle of the image) from the center to support his right wing :

12/ Albucius places his cavalry on Midas's right flank. Sanctus sends (bottom, left)three archers units encircling Marcel on the right :

13/ Midas increases his pressure at the center-left,
and sends two cohorts onslaughting Sanctus's two ones :

16/ Marcel breaks through on far right whereas Midas, who
intended backing his centre with his horses, asks
his cavalry turning round to face Albucius cavalry's charge :

17/ Midas's infantry gets the better in the center while
Albucius reinforces his cavalry with one archers unit :

18/ On the right, Marcel beats off Sanctus's soldiers and begins in his turn moving to encircle his opponent (center of the image):

19/ Midas asks judiciously his infantry to turn round and
run back to support his cavalry, which is in danger :

22/ Marcel has overcome Sanctus's last resistence at the center, and both Sanctus and Albucius men are now fleeing :

After this hard day, I have myself, in the night of my tent, drawn several lessons of this battle :
First, our opponents have come with more adapted troops. They choose not lining archers up at all, and host their general in a cohort unit. As they had as much cavalry than ours, and that this one did not make any tactical mistake, we have already loose half of the battle just because both Scipii have lined up 26 urban or 1st LC vs. 19 for us ! This was already a huge disadvantage for us, which has not been filled up by our archers who caused the enemy not enough damages.
Second, our generals, Albucius and Sanctus were not in their best day, specially ours, Albucius, who has reacted too late to the blue attack. Even if our cavalry charge would have been successful if Midas's infantry had not come in rescue, we lost 93 % of our men. On his side, Gen. Sanctus has not reacted quick enough to reinforce the attack key point.
Third, our enemies did really make no mistake at all. Sure we had never seen them fighting so perfectly. Their men were great, and their general on top. How these last ones have handled this proelium should be teached to our Roman children !
